The area is right beside "Mar de Las Pampas" and "Las Gaviotas" with "Mar Azul" are joined, so environment are quite similar. The most important geographical issue you can find here is that the pines and eucalyptus forest are not so closed together like in Mar de Las Pampas, so there is more sun on the streets, wider beaches and mores "open areas". That is good, I like it, cause sometime (specially on winter time) closed forests use to be very cold.
| The rest is magical with cabins spread every where, built on wood, stone, bricks or the mixture of all materials, the place is wonderful for relaxing, walking by the sand roads, horse riding, biking, beach sports like boat sailing or windsurfing or just taking a good spa day in some of the resort of the area. |
|
I had chosen this last one item, taken one Spa day.
Kindly invited to test the wonders of the "Rincón del Mar" Spa & Resort I staid two days enjoying and testing the beauties of the place. The first thing I should said is that the spot is a huge building built right beside the beach with rooms facing the ocean. |
|
You will find further info on the Web Site of the Resort, but I will tell a few words about the owners. It is said that homes are like their owners and if you get in this Spa: Peace, Style and Kindness is because Diego Stern, his family and employees are just like that, kindly people looking forward to serve you better so you can enjoy on the Resort your best relax time.

Taking and Spa day
I was invited by Diego to try an Spa day, so I accepted to have my "Spa time" and did all the routine of baths and saunas programmed for a day one by one. Guided by a professional, the baths tours takes about an hour and half but with the explanation for each one specially for me, it took me 3 Hs to completed all (I finished really "relaxed").
As you can see in the photograph, Eugenia (my partner) show us the correct body position into the Dry Sauna. It has three levels. The first one is to warm the body (5´ minutes). The second of 45 degrees is to increase body temperature (5´). And finally the third one of 75 degrees is for heavy sweating (3´). |
|
After that we took the "Humid Sauna" (heavy clouds of minted water), very good for cleaning and healing breathing problems and then the "Sweden Shower" (strong sprays of hot and warm water) very good for muscle tonification. No photos available, I was inside and was really wet.
Till now you will feel that your body does not belong to you anymore, but no worries, the party is still going on and the next step is the "Ozone Jacuzzi", an special Jacuzzi used for deep skin cleaning (keep care if you have thin skin, do not stay to much time cause may peel you).
The hot water with the join of the ozone and big bubbles make you feel really good.
What a relax.... !!!

And finally, you step into the "Warm Pool", a swimming pool to step down the temperature of your body to normal (before was always very hot) so you can go out "refreshed".

The Spa day was amazing and I recommend it for every body who can have the opportunity to take it, but check out with your doctor first and then you´ll spend a relaxing and healthy day.
After all this, you probably will like to go to sleep. Well, that is what I had done, a good nap, and then I got up like a baby, really healthy and powerful. After that, meanwhile I was enjoying the view from the bedroom, I order an orange juice meantime my sight was lost in the wonderful blue horizon of the ocean in front of my room. |
|
The Resort, as you had realise, got a restaurant too, where you can take your breakfast every morning, a lunch or a romantic dinner on night watching the moon coming up from the ocean.
- In down town "Mar Azul", you´ll get other choices of restaurants and pubs where you can try the local beer. You can know them in the "where to eat section"
- I am enclosing you down a list of important tourist information to guide you through your discovering of "Las Gaviotas" and "Mar Azul" and not get lost on the way. You will find from places to sleep, relax, take food, buy things or even built your own place here. I hope this will help you.
Come on and enjoy it. I have done it and have had a very good time. You always can contact me for further details any moment, that's no problem (eventhough, most contacts on the list had its own links to their websites). I hope see soon you around.
Regards
Mark Royo Celano

4x4 Expedition to Faro Querandi
| The "Faro
Querandi" its a big light house placed looking to the ocean and surrounded by
thousands meters of sand, big dunes and small trees. It is called
"Querandi" cause it is the name of the aborigens that lived in this area many
years ago (no more now). Light House is seen from the ocean, far away. It is used by fishermen and sailmen who sail from Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata and back. |

| One way you can get there is by 4x4. Renting a 4x4 in Mar de las Pampas is not so easy unless its summer time (January and February) and because I've been at the beginning of September (still winter and was very windy and chilly) I was able to go thanks to a friend who invited me to go (lucky me). |
![]() |
| To go from Mar de las Pampas is a 12 km
drive through the desert beach of 300 meters wide of clean sand. The place is very
wild and the driving experience is quite cool, cause you have the ocean on one side and
the sand desert on the other. Behind that desert there are the trees, not seen from the shore. |

| Once you get there you feel (like my friend Kuky said) an ant, small, tiny and insignificant, surrounded by this beautiful and huge demonstration of nature and human building. | ![]() |
